It's now official. I can start talking about it. Starting October 10th, 2005 I will officially be working for the man. I am excited to enter the role of Developer Evangelist for the South Central Region. My friend and now colleague, Brian Moore, has done a tremendous job in this position, and I hope to fill his shoes well. Brian is moving to a new position within Microsoft. After working with the Tulsa .Net Users Group and INETA for almost 3 years, I now get to work with a whole bunch of users groups in a whole new capacity. I'm looking forward to working with Microsoft team, Microsoft partners, enterprise customers and all of the user groups is the region!
Also, I will be moving my family from Tulsa to Dallas, if you have any suggestions on where we should look for houses down there, let me know! Thanks.

So it looks like Microsoft is hiring in the Tulsa area, and they are posting the details on the Tulsa .Net User Group web site. Cool.

So, there’s this ground breaking article on msn right now that concludes that having a common faith between married people can help the marriage, and that if your faith’s are different that can hurt it… Duh!

Last night I had the privilege of presenting at the Tulsa .Net Users Group. I gave an into talk on ORM frameworks and nHibernate. The slides aren’t what I would call “finished” but the talk went well, and we all had a lot of fun. If you are interested, here are the slides.

This weekend on labor day we were at Mazzios Pizza, my son Noah, who is brilliant and smarter than I ever was, was trying to describe something. He said that it was “exactly similar”. I don’t remember what he was describing, but I thought that it was a great phrase. Had to mention it!

It looks like Brian is going to go work for Microsoft now, congratulations Brian! (I work with Brian on the INETA marketing committee)
Last month, my “absolute dream job” became available at Microsoft. More than that, the person who has that position now, emailed me 2 months ago and asked if he could submit my name as a candidate to replace him.
His words, “I wanted to make you aware of this potential opportunity as I feel you would be a strong candidate... If you are interested in having a conversation with my manager... I would be pleased to pass your contact information along to him”
Wow! How cool is that! Now, don't get me wrong, I love working for the company that I work for. They are great, but let's face it, there's nothing like working for the mother ship. I've known this person for 3 years, and have often thought what a cool job he had... Wow, I can't begin to tell you what a huge opportunity this was... my dream job, for Microsoft, working with some of the best user group in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas... I love working with user groups. Did I say Texas? Ah, yeah, the job would require that I move to Dallas, no problem.... we've only lived in Tulsa for 3 years, ready to move, let's go...
Except... that our children are here, they have 9 cousins that are in a 2 mile radius of our house, Rachel's dad lives 2 miles away and we have a great church. Yeah, we love Tulsa, at least the people that are here
So I didn't even take the interview... I guess some things are more important careers. Still, it was nice to be considered.
